Freedom of Expression in Tanzania is constitutionally protected but limited. The right to Freedom of Expression includes the right to seek, receive and impart information and ideas. It has a broad scope. In terms of imparting information and ideas, it includes the right to express oneself orally, in writing, or through any means of communication including electronic means.

Freedom of Expression also includes the right to seek and receive information from others, including the right to obtain and read newspapers, listen to broadcasts, surf the Internet, and participate in and listen to discussions in public and private forums.
